Temporary Housing For Hurricane Victims
Together, we can provide hope and healing!
PLATT Heal has partnered with Housing Assistance Corporation [HAC] and Heather and John Blythe, in a collective effort to provide temporary housing for eight families or more who have been displaced by damages from Hurricane Helene. Here’s how we envision this coming together:
1. The Blythe family is providing eight travel trailer sites on their property and taking care of the land grading and necessary utility installation.
2. We're working with Camping World of Asheville to secure eight significantly discounted family-sized travel trailers.
3. Thanks to generous early support, we’ve already secured funding for 2.5 travel trailers. Now, we’re working to raise another $120,000 to purchase the remaining units.
4. HAC will use all donated funds to purchase the identified trailers. All Contributions are tax-deductible and can be made directly to HAC, here on this website.
5. HAC will connect families in need with these trailers and oversee the project as we move forward together.
6. As needs shift over time HAC will be able to continue utilizing the trailers on-site or elsewhere as needed.
While our county was fortunate to be spared the worst of the storm, over one hundred local families are facing temporary or permanent housing challenges. This has only added to the pre-existing affordable housing crisis in our community. These trailers will provide a safe and comfortable place for families in immediate need, helping them transition to more stable housing over time. They will also continue to offer necessary shelter during the many years of recovery and rebuilding ahead.
Every contribution, whether it’s $100, full amount for a unit ($20,000), or more will have a meaningful impact. Together, we can provide hope and healing in the face of this immense disaster.
